The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for 3 full-time (1.0 FTE) positions at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC)-Northwest site. These positions are hired at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor on the Clinical Practice track. These positions are non-tenure eligible. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. Assistant, Associate, or Professors of Clinical Practice are eligible for an initial appointment period of three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter that aligns with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date would be Fall 2025, but this is flexible.
Clinical duties will be based primarily at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) attending on the inpatient nephrology consult service on the Northwest and Montlake campuses, outpatient general nephrology and/or subspecialty clinics, and/or delivering care in community-based dialysis units. The number of weeks on consult service, the number of outpatient clinics, and extent of participation in dialysis care will be based on the need and at the discretion of the Section Head and Division Head. Although this position's clinical focus will be on general nephrology, we expect the person in this position will develop one to two clinical subspecialty areas of interest and expertise.
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. This position will also participate in divisional teaching and academic conferences as assigned, such as presenting annually at grand rounds conference.
The base salary range for this position will be: $18,417-$29,167) per month ($221,004-$350,004 annually) commensurate with experience, rank and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Qualifications
• Applicants must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be ABIM board-certified in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent). They must also have completed an ACGME accredited nephrology fellowship (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Successful candidates should demonstrate outstanding clinical and teaching skills.
• In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
