Job Description

The Cardiac Sonographer performs detailed assessments of patients’ hearts through ultrasound images taken during echocardiograms. These assessments examine blood flow, valve function, and chamber size. The sonographer accurately records patient data and test results, utilizing a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to 2-D and 3-D echocardiograms, Strain, Contrast, Doppler, TEE, and Stress Echo.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a cardiac sonographer or echocardiography certificate program.
• BS degree preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of hospital training/experience required.
• Certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDC).
• Active certification/registry.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association) required.
