The role: We are seeking an Environmental, People and Places new graduate who combines strong leadership, engagement management, and team collaboration skills with a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships. This individual will engage in a variety of environmental engineering work, including air, noise, soil, water, and waste management. In this role, you will leverage your professional network and Hatch's strong industry reputation to expand our presence in the environmental consulting space.
Your challenges with us!
- Support multidisciplinary projects with responsibilities that relate to project development and design that mitigates impacts to air, noise, soil, and water. This will involve the determination of applicable environmental legislation and standards, specification of environmental design criteria, collection of baseline environmental data, modelling and assessment of potential effects, preparation of permit applications, engagement with local community stakeholders, and inspection of construction and operational activities.
- Identify and develop environment-related business opportunities with clients and companies working in the metals, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, including those calculations and modelling of impacts for air quality, noise, soil and groundwater contamination, and surface water.
- Lead or provide input to obtaining permits and approvals
- Provide leadership, technical direction, peer review and advice within our existing environmental consulting practice.
- Support resource planning and collaborative leadership on project teams.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Be relied upon as a technical expert in any combination of air / noise, soil / groundwater contamination, excess soil management and waste management.
- Work collaboratively with integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising with and supporting global peers.
Qualifications:
- A recent or soon-to-be graduate with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or a similar field.
- An interest in environmental consulting in the mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire environmental teams, collaborate with peers and integrate with engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial with a strong quality focus.
- Effective at managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Clear communication style with the ability to plan, lead, and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables.
- Knowledge of or experience with environmental assessment or permitting, environmental due diligence, and technical modelling an asset.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as work requires.

Compensation range depends on education, major, and experience. For ideal candidates, the compensation range can be $70,000 - $86,000 annually. Please feel free to contact us for information on additional compensation and programs.
