The Medical Secretary performs a variety of secretarial and administrative duties for the assigned physicians, section chiefs or chairman relating to the organization and management of the department.
Responsibilities include:
- Schedules and arrange patient appointments.
- Facilitate communication between provider and patient.
- Schedules and arrange meetings or conferences for departmental personnel.
- Facilitate and support administrative component of educational activities.
- Composes and prepares correspondences.
- Files reports, prepares documents, and forwards correspondence.
- Prioritizes correspondence through screening process; transfer calls/emails, records messages and delivers to appropriate personnel.
- Reviews, screens and distributes daily mail correspondence to appropriate personnel.
- Orders office supplies and maintains inventory as necessary.
- Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files to include certifications and credentialing as necessary.
- Assists in coordination and support of special projects.
- Support department administrative activities as per the chair or designee
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications include:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- Associates Degree.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Compensation: Minimum rate of $20.32 Hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate.
