Lovelace Health System:
Lovelace includes six hospitals, 33 healthcare clinics, and seven outpatient therapy clinics, with 619 inpatient beds and over 3,200 employees, including more than 300 healthcare providers.
Lovelace Medical Center (LMC) is an acute care hospital with 263 licensed beds in Albuquerque, NM, offering comprehensive care including emergency services, surgical services, robotic spine surgery, stroke care, radiology, and oncology services, including the state’s only Gamma Knife Center for non-invasive brain surgery.
Job Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity at Lovelace Medical Center for a Chief Operating Officer .
The COO will participate in strategic, operational, and financial decision-making, working closely with the CEO to manage hospital operations, site coordination, and organizational activities to meet goals and strategies. The COO will help establish systems and organizational structures aligned with the organization’s vision and strategic direction, execute operational strategies, achieve performance metrics, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, evaluation, and coordination of clinical and non-clinical departments’ operations.
- Collaborate with the CEO on policy recommendations and operational strategies.
- Manage major strategic, clinical, and operational initiatives.
- Mentor and develop leaders, fostering high performance, collaboration, and innovation.
- Guide department leaders on performance measures, productivity, quality, and cost management.
- Implement policies and procedures.
- Work with the CEO and teams on organizational change and process improvements.
- Participate in board, medical staff, and community meetings.
- Drive process improvements focusing on care delivery, clinical outcomes, patient safety, and throughput.
- Promote technology use to streamline operations and communication.
- Ensure patient-centered care through quality improvement models and performance metrics.
- Manage financial, informational, and human resources for service delivery.
- Contribute to executive leadership, stakeholder relationships, and strategic positioning.
- Oversee hospital facility improvements, including construction and equipment purchases.
- Engage with hospital governance, leadership, medical staff, and clinical leaders in decision-making.
- Set expectations, develop leaders, and support organizational needs and priorities.
- Build community relationships to improve patient outcomes.
- Support professional development, role growth, and staff hiring, evaluation, and education.
- Conduct rounds with patients, families, staff, and physicians to ensure communication and operational excellence.
- Communicate effectively to engage others and achieve results.
- Consider the long-term impacts of business decisions and strategic plans.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required; MHA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hospital administration experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for effective communication with management and staff.
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and improve organizational functions.
- Knowledge of strategic planning and goal implementation.
