Job Details
A law firm seeks an enthusiastic and driven Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join its growing practice in Miami. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in Florida workers' compensation defense. While prior experience is not required, candidates should be able to handle cases independently and manage a range of tasks within their assigned cases. The position also involves significant discovery work, including taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, preparing motions, and responding to written discovery. Trial experience is a bonus, but not a requirement.
Duties
- Independently manage assigned workers' compensation cases from start to finish.
- Handle various discovery matters, including taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, and preparing responses to written discovery.
- Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents related to case progression.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure case deadlines are met.
- Assist in trial preparation and, where applicable, represent clients in hearings or court proceedings.
- Stay current on Florida workers' compensation laws and related legal developments.
Requirements
- Must be a current member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- A demonstrated interest in workers' compensation defense law, with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in handling general discovery matters, including depositions, witness interviews, and preparing legal motions.
- Trial experience is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and legal research skills.
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Active membership with the Florida Bar in good standing.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Proficient in legal research and case management.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
