IT Project Manager

Apex Systems is currently hiring for an IT Project Manager with Financial Services clients. This will be a contract position with the intent to convert.

Location: Charlotte, NC

Onsite expectation: 3-4 days onsite per week

Pay range: 60-70/HR

• JIRA expert, Gantt chart progress
• Experience working in weakly matrixed organizations: startups, small shops, mid-market companies.
• Extremely organized, self-starter, with responsive communication
• Able to write project plans from scratch
• Agile
• Fluent in leveraging AI tools to streamline workflow

Technology Project Manager Backend Platform Systems

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Technology Project Manager with deep expertise in JIRA to lead backend platform initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels at issue tracking and resolution, and can drive execution with precision and urgency.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and manage backend platform projects, working closely with engineering teams and product managers.
• Own and streamline bug and issue tracking processes, ensuring timely resolution and clear documentation.
• Drive execution of committed deliverables, proactively removing blockers and ensuring team accountability.
• Provide regular status updates and progress reports to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with 12 focused development teams, reporting directly to the Senior Technical Project Manager.
• Support re-architecture initiatives and other high-impact technical programs.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Expert-level proficiency in JIRA, including Gantt chart tracking and workflow customization.
• Proven experience in weakly matrixed environments such as startups, small teams, or mid-market organizations.
• Exceptionally organized and self-motivated, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop project plans from scratch and adapt them to evolving needs.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Comfortable leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in software development or coding as a hobby (strong plus).
• Experience in financial services, particularly retirement investing.
• Familiarity with GitBook and GitHub for documentation and collaboration.
