Job Details
The Sr. Credentialing Coordinator oversees the credentialing process for the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University for all clinical appointments and faculty, postdoctoral fellows, residents and other medical staff as needed for assigned areas within the Department of Ophthalmology. Handles all visa issues for assigned areas. Interprets university and hospital policies, exercises independent judgement in resolution of credentialing issues. Reports to Human Resources Manager.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
- Oversees all aspects of medical staff appointments and credentialed faculty, providers, fellows (clinical and research), APP and other medical staff as needed.
- Develop, implement and maintain appropriate departmental policies and procedures related to executing the credentialing processes in accordance with JHH and JHU School of Medicine policies, government regulations and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Instruct and advise divisional representatives concerning credentialing and visa process.
- Create credentials-related reports for Department Director, Administrator, departmental credentials personnel, committee chairs, Division Administrators, Division Directors, search committees, etc.
- Creates reports on compliance renewals and training needed.
- Educate and inform faculty and division personnel about credentialing policies and procedures
- Serves as point-person for compliance issues such as Risk Management, annual renewal of licenses and implementation of DEA and CDS licensure.
- Manage the Focused Physician Practice Evaluation process.
- Oversee the reappointment for faculty and fellows for their divisions.
- Interpret JHH Medicine Administration, as well as faculty- and fellow-related policies of the School of Medicine for the Chairman's Office, Division Directors, Division Administrators, Committee Chairs, and individual Faculty and Medical Staff members.
- Leads the division on academic, post doc, visa and medical staff appointments.
- Creates, maintain and tracks the processes for appointments, promotions and medical staff appointments.
- Serve as a liaison between the Division, Department and JHH Medical Staff Administration, the School of Medicine Dean's Office and the JHU Office of International Student, Faculty and Staff Services.
- Participate in the creation and revision of various credentials-related documents that are used in the School of Medicine and JHH Medical Staff Administration, as well as within the Department.
- Maintain departmental records
- Respond to training verification requests from other institutions and/or coordinate competency evaluations by peers.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Six years experience, with understanding of the credentialing process.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $84,100 Annually ($65,000-$68,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
