The BMS Discovery Biotherapeutics group in San Diego, California, is dedicated to developing novel biotherapeutic candidates, leveraging cutting-edge science and innovative technologies to drive the drug discovery pipeline. We seek to develop complex molecules such as bispecific antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, and endogenous proteins and optimize their utility as therapeutic agents. We are looking for a hardworking, motivated, and independent undergraduate who has completed at least 2 years of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to join our part-time, paid 6-month co-op research program in Antibody Drug Conjugation (ADC) Technologies. This role involves production, purification, characterization and cellular profiling of ADCs for different therapeutic targets. Students should attend institutions within driving distance of the La Jolla area.

The full-time internship will take place January June 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Production of ADCs using purified antibodies and a panel of small molecule linker-payloads
• Purification of the conjugates by de-salting column, size exclusion and ion exchange FPLC
• Characterization of the conjugates using established methods such as RP-HPLC, SEC-HPLC, HIC-HPLC and LC-MS (Mass spectrometry)
• Analyze the potency of the conjugates using cell-based cytotoxicity assays
• Record experiments, results, and characterization data in laboratory notebooks in sufficient detail and in a timely fashion
• Presentation of data in team meetings and participation in scientific discussions
• Literature evaluation and review to understand the background of the project

Qualifications & Experience

• Prior lab experience in and/or outside of course work
• 2 or more years at a college or university
• Enjoys learning new skills, understands and participates in scientific discussions
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job.
