Team Description

The Servicing Intelligence data science team leverages deep learning model architectures to help internal customers use unstructured, multi-modal data sources – text, image, and audio data. We partner with product, tech, and business teams to deliver solutions ranging from using generative AI for information extraction on millions of document images to analyzing call transcripts to identify customer pain points. You will lead experimentation and innovation to create next-generation experiences powered by emerging generative AI technologies.

Role Description

In this role, you will:

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
• Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals

Basic Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following with the expectation of degree completion by start date:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field plus 7 years of data analytics experience
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field or MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 5 years of data analytics experience
  • PhD in a quantitative field plus 2 years of data analytics experience
• At least 2 years of experience using open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis
• At least 2 years of experience working with machine learning
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing relational databases

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in STEM with 4 years of data analytics experience
• At least 1 year of AWS experience
• At least 1 year of people management experience
• At least 5 years in Python, Scala, or R for large-scale data analysis
• At least 5 years of experience with machine learning

The salary ranges listed below are for location-based hires and reflect Capital One’s current posted ranges. Salaries for part-time roles are prorated. Locations and ranges:

McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200 for Sr Mgr, Data Science

New York, NY: $245,900 - $280,600 for Sr Mgr, Data Science

Candidates hired in other locations will receive salary offers consistent with those locations. This role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
