Position Summary: The Retail Pricing Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that all retail gas sites are priced according to corporate strategy while generating insightful reports for executive management and operations personnel. This role involves conducting thorough analyses of sites to provide strategic recommendations aimed at maximizing gross profit. The analyst will also perform independent and collaborative ad hoc analyses leveraging a variety of data sources.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize Kalibrate Pricing Software to price retail sites, including daily cost verification, competitor pricing review, and volume/margin performance analysis.
- Manage daily snapshot reports that highlight margin and volume trends, budget performance, competitor movements, and pricing positions for assigned locations to inform specific site pricing adjustments.
- Lead monthly Fuel Performance calls with field management to identify opportunities and recommend strategic changes.
- Monitor and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly demand market share figures, communicating strategy change recommendations to the Manager of Retail Petroleum Pricing.
- Oversee the implementation of specialty yield management pricing strategies and provide ongoing status/performance updates.
- Research and explore opportunities for electronic capture of competitive retail pricing data, coordinating with IT for data integration into pricing and reporting systems.
- Maintain careful oversight of costs, margins, and price feeds to ensure data accuracy for assigned retail locations.
- Analyze state-specific variances to benchmark volume and margin performance, leveraging insights to achieve target results.
- Evaluate regional performance against available data to implement appropriate strategies and meet or exceed target metrics.
- Proactively develop dashboards and analytical tools to monitor and adjust strategies in alignment with senior leadership targets.
Working Relationships: Collaborate with retail operations (DM, RM & VP), SVP of Retail Operations, various vendors, VP of Petroleum Operations, IT Department, App Dev, and Smart Rewards teams.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree with a focus in finance/statistics/business
Minimum Experience: 1-3 years of pricing/business experience
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of management/leadership experience
Soft Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; experience with Power BI, SQL, and other visualization/database querying tools is a plus.
- Self-starter with a passion for solving complex problems.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
- Strong organizational skills to manage both the quantity and quality of the workload while working independently and taking initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with intra and interdepartmental teams.
- Must have reliable access to high-speed internet.
Travel: 5-10%
Physical: Medium physical effort required, primarily involving sitting and standing.
Hours & Conditions: 40 hours working in an office environment with some weekend commitments.
