Job Summary: The Master Electrician's primary objective is to ensure all electrical planning and installation activities are performed in a safe and meet National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes and compliance standards. The Master Electrician will assist in the management of all electrical activities to include Design, Plan, Lay-out, Installation of Electrical Power or Control Systems and directly supervise and perform electrical construction (commercial and industrial) activities. The individual in this position will pull required permits and arrange for inspections. Enforce safety protocols on the and within job site to comply with OSHA and other safety regulations.
The Master Electrician must be comfortable working in and around confined spaces, heights and radiological areas due to the nature of the work. The Master Electrician will be working alongside dismantlement crew, riggers, crane operators, radiation control team and project planners to help create electrical project solutions.
The Master Electrician will assist in the enforcement of all applicable federal, state and local electrical regulations and procedures designed to prevent accidents and injury to all project personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Provide electrical project expertise in converting an industrial site to functional operations site.
- Provide recommendations to satisfy all electrical requirements.
- Participate in daily planning discussion meetings.
- Support the site superintendent or authorized representative on all electrical projects.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in a commercial, and industrial setting.
- Diagnose complex electrical problems and troubleshoot issues with wiring, lighting, and control systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan electrical layouts.
- Ensure proper grounding, circuit protection, and load calculations are in place.
- Install and configure systems such as: Lighting (interior and exterior), Power distribution panels, motors, transformers, and generators, data and communication systems, fire alarm and security systems.
- Conduct inspections of completed work for quality and compliance.
- Assign tasks and schedule jobs, coordinating with project managers or contractors.
- Supervise Journeyman and Apprentice electricians, ensuring their work meets code and safety standards.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to apprentices (if required).
- Support heavy weather protection which includes implementing measures to secure materials and sensitive areas during adverse weather.
- File required documentation (if required) for permits.
- Assist in estimating project costs and timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of materials, labor, and progress.
- Communicate with clients, builders, inspectors, and utility companies.
- Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Must have completed electrical training program, including electrical sciences.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, required.
Position Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have passed the State of Alabama Electrical Journeyman Exam (Required).
- Must be registered with the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board, (Required).
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements: reference checks, criminal history checks, DMV checks, credit reporting checks, NCIC checks, background investigations, Drug screens, and Physical.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays (When Required).
- Must be able to pass pre-employment medical requirements, i.e., successfully, OPM medical physical and drug testing.
- Must be able to pass Physical Abilities Fitness Testing successfully.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent verbal and written reports in English.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
- Must maintain a current State of Alabama electrician's license (Required).
- Must have experience in Commercial and Industrial Electrical Construction and Maintenance.
- Familiarity with NEC, electrical safety codes, and NFPA 70E (preferred).
- Possess knowledge of Marine Electrical Wiring Practices.
- Must be familiar with Low & Medium Voltage Installations.
- Possess experience in identifying & ordering electrical materials.
- Possess experience and training in personnel oversight, management and supervision.
