Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Daytonknown widely as the birthplace of aviationwhere the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75.
At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.
Role Overview
We're looking for a candidate with electrical/mechanical aptitude to help us sustain a robust preventive maintenance program. This position is responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment.
- Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per provided job plans
- Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment
- Repair all production equipment as needed
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Perform general housekeeping
- Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology
- Work with outside contractors working on assigned projects
- Comply with GMP, safety, and audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Documentation of job tasks and durations using Maximo software

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+ Years Industrial Mechanical/ Electrical Maintenance Experience to include:
- Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns, diagnostics, problem solving).
- Mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
- Pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs)
- Electrical systems from - 480v 3 phase - 120v single phase (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
- Basic carpentry skills, including framing, drywalling, and painting
Preferred Qualifications
- Must adhere to all ISO Quality Standards
- Knowledge of safety procedures, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, etc
- Experience using IBM Maximo CMMS
- Professional technical training or certificate program in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or related field.
- Schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays).
- Product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
- Reading mechanical drawings (e.g., mechanical, electrical, hydraulics & pneumatics).
- HVAC systems.
- Material fabrication and welding skills.
- Basic rigging knowledge
- Must be ready to work in a collaborative team environment including non-maintenance personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team/management.
- Forklift and manlift experience.
Additional Information
- This position requires work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals. The position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling.
- The position may require weekend and/or holiday work.
