Director, Strategic Partnerships and Outsourcing Business Partner (Global Clinical Development) – BioSpace

This role reports to the Head of Strategic Partnerships and Outsourcing (SPO) and serves as a critical liaison between the R&D Therapeutic Area Unit (TAU) and the SPO team to drive supplier-related initiatives and improvements across the TAU portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and strengthen strategic partnerships with designated TAU(s), acting as a trusted advocate and advisor
- Understand and support current and future contract and supplier relationship needs of the TAU(s), including priorities and challenges
- Provide study-related workbook information to SPO leaders to support planning, decision-making, and resource allocation
- Identify supplier activities required to establish initial contractual coverage and expedite trial initiation
- Collaborate with TAU, SRM, and CPO leads to support future study award decisions
- Lead prioritization and implementation of processes and policy improvements across the study portfolio
- Act as a clinical expert supporting CPOs managing contracts related to the TAU
- Demonstrate financial discipline and accountability, ensuring budget predictability, financial hygiene, and contract robustness across studies
- Evaluate commercial and operational issues, prioritize them, and direct them to the appropriate teams for resolution
- Identify and escalate systemic supplier performance issues to the SRM team
- Foster collaboration with other CPO Business Partners to share best practices and identify synergies across TAUs
- Communicate improvement needs to the Enablement team and assist in implementing new processes, tools, and best practices
- Foster industry collaborations to exchange innovative ideas and best practices
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements; support inspection readiness of all regulated activities
Education & Competencies (Technical And Behavioral)
- BS/BA required; advanced technical degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or clinical research
- Proven experience in strategic supplier management, clinical outsourcing, or procurement in pharma or CRO settings
- Strong understanding of clinical development operations and regulatory requirements
- Experience collaborating on cross-functional teams and leading complex global projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in budget management, financial discipline, and contract negotiations
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a long-term focus
- Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships
- Experience in process improvement and project management
- Understanding of clinical trials, CRO models, and pharmaceutical regulations
- Skilled in engaging with senior leaders and external partners
- Forward-thinking with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of GCP, ICH guidelines, and clinical trial regulations
Additional Information
- Location: Cambridge, MA (hybrid) under Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy
Compensation And Benefits Summary
U.S. Base Salary Range: $174,500.00 - $274,230.00. The actual base salary offered depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, licenses, and location. Eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives; benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. Sick time up to 80 hours per year and new hires eligible for up to 120 hours of paid vacation per year.
