VCA Encina Veterinary Medical Center (Walnut Creek, CA) is searching for a dedicated candidate with a passion for providing top of the line customer service, with a focus on patient care. This position allows you to work alongside the DVM during their scheduled appointments. The department coordinator is responsible for rooming the client and patient, presenting treatment plans, filling prescriptions, handling questions from the client in between exams and visits. The ability to multi-task is a must. The perfect candidate would have 2+ years working in the veterinary field as a Client Service Representative, or similar position.
As a general practice, multi-specialty and emergency only veterinary hospital, our community depends on us to care for their beloved pets during chronic ailments and emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our veterinary specialties include: Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Oncology, Surgery and Emergency/Critical Care. Featuring in-house lab, digital radiographs, ultrasound, CT scanner, in-house pharmacy, surgical suite and ICU, we pride ourselves on our dedicated and compassionate staff and our team of amazing assistants, technicians and interns. We are a fast paced animal hospital that, also being a teaching hospital, provides an amazing learning environment and a rewarding caseload.
We are looking to hire someone with animal and customer service experience, as a Doctor's Assistant in our busy state-of-the-art hospital. Shifts include day time and evening, as well as weekdays and weekends/holidays (we work as a team).
Ideally seeking candidates with a minimum of 2-3 years of current veterinary hospital experience, preferably in emergency or specialty veterinary medicine, although this is not a must. Any customer service experience is welcomed.
Your position on the Client Care Team as a Doctor's Assistant will include but not limited to: answering phones, making appointments, checking clients in and out, speaking with clients regarding their pets and family, creating and managing estimates for diagnostics and treatments for clients, rooming clients and patients, obtaining temperature and weight of pets, being a liaison of communication between doctor and client, and accurately filling medications for patients.
Both full-time and part-time positions are available. All shifts are between 8- 10 hours long and all available schedules include weekend shifts. After 30 days, you will become eligible for benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan, allowances for uniforms and CE (continuing education), vacation days, holiday pay, and personal veterinary care discounts. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $24 to $25/hour.
