As the Chief Estimator, you will oversee and manage estimating functions within your region. Your role involves setting operating budgets, assigning staffing, and determining work assignments. You'll implement established estimating policies and collaborate closely with project managers to assist in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing project details to provide recommendations, and strategizing resources needed.
- Coordinating with design discipline leads to ensure cost effectiveness and constructability.
- Standardizing the use of approved estimating systems and maintaining a comprehensive cost database.
- Reviewing all final estimate and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
- Contacting subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing.
- Maintaining historical estimating data for various project types.
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 10 years of related experience, with 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience in the Wastewater industry is essential. You must reside near one of our regional offices, including locations in Denver, CO; Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Maitland, FL; Syracuse, NY; Fairfax, VA; Boston, MA; and Chelmsford, MA.
You will also be required to travel up to 20% based on project demands.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.
- Strong skills in reading and comprehending drawings and specifications, identifying missing elements in design development.
- The ability to perform conceptual estimates across multiple trades.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
