Calibration Technician
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about maintaining performance and resolving defects for the ePlex System. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ePlex instrumentation within the R&D Engineering team. This role ensures the reliability and functionality of diagnostic instruments by performing scheduled maintenance, diagnosing failures, and collaborating with engineers to resolve technical issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform monitoring, repair, and scheduled preventive maintenance on ePlex instruments across multiple lab environments.
- Diagnose failures, replace defective components, and conduct troubleshooting with engineering support using electronic test equipment, drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
- Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results to support system performance improvements.
- Maintain appropriate maintenance and repair logs.
- Utilize various hand, power, and test tools for diagnostics and repairs.
- Operate soldering equipment to perform necessary repairs.
- Verify dimensions and clearances of parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain laboratory space and project workspaces in an organized manner.
- Execute test plans, including verification and validation following established protocols.
- Prepare reports and documentation as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Who You Are: (Required) You have 1-3 years of relevant experience with instrumentation, preferably in molecular diagnostics. Trade School/Associate degree in a related field is preferred. Ability to perform intermediate troubleshooting with minimal engineering support using standard electronic equipment, detailed diagrams, sketches, specifications, and manuals. Strong problem-solving abilities; capable of identifying and resolving issues efficiently while suggesting process improvements. Proficient in written and verbal communication, including technical documentation, data summaries, and reports. Experience with following Good Documentation Practices. Exposure to integrated software and hardware subsystems. Self-Starter and responsible individual with ability to schedule service and maintenance and plan ahead for parts usage.
Preferred: Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks is a plus. Experience with JMP, Excel, and Spotfire or similar for data analysis is a plus. You have a familiarity with Diagnostics and Microbiology.
Work Environment: The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens and automated equipment. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
