Instrument Assistant

VCA California Veterinary Specialists is seeking an Instrument Assistant to join our incredible team. Instrument Assistants are responsible for:

• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Being able to properly use and perform maintenance on autoclave, ultrasonic and all cleaning devices.
• Having or being willing to obtain a gas sterilizer certificate
• Properly packing instruments using the correct indicators containers and pouches
• Maintaining and caring for surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintaining a log of surgical instruments and pull lists for different surgical procedures
• Surgical scrub laundry and some general cleaning in surgery areas
• Organizing surgical rooms on a daily basis
• Preparing/cleaning operating rooms prior to surgery and after surgery
• Familiarity of sterile technique to open instruments during a surgery
• Setting up for orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries
• Stocking surgical suites

This is a full-time position

• Salary: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
• Tuesday Friday (4) 10-hour shifts
