Engineering Technician
The EE Systems Integration team is responsible for assuring that electrical, electronic, and mechatronic systems are defined, specified, manufactured, integrated and tested into systems and vehicles with a maximum of reliability and performance. As a Mechatronix Engineering Technician at ***'s, you will be responsible for the setup and execution of various tests on *** Electro-Mechanical components, sub-systems, and systems. This includes preparation of test articles, building test fixtures, developing test circuits, installing test equipment and instrumentation, and executing tests according to the requestor's procedures.
The Mechatronix Technician's is the point of contact of the Mechatronics lab, responsibilities will also include conducting periodic preventative maintenance on test and lab equipment, fabrication of test setups, ensuring lab consumables are stocked and up to date, and general lab upkeep. Testing will be required on various systems to evaluate system performance, electrical system performance tests, thermal characterization, and automation. You will utilize your expertise in one or more of these areas to support these testing and development activities, and work closely together with the responsible engineering lead.
Responsibilities
Support the cross functional teams (EE, Powertrain, Body, Chassis) with technician tasks
Fabricate and Assemble test fixtures and wiring harness as necessary supporting the cross-functional teams
Sustain the ***'s Mechatronics lab (Inventory, Equipment Check in / Check out, Logistic, Safety walks, lab purge, lab expansion)
Execute key test activities accurately and thoroughly
Install test instrumentation on test articles per instrumentation diagrams
Manufacture PCBAs, sold electrical components, and build electric circuits to support in-Circuit Testing and Functional Testing using schematics and standard bench test equipment
Performs troubleshooting and failure analysis on defective PCBAs or Vehicle components coming from Component Reliability Testing
Support automation engineers to build ad-hoc automated test equipment (PCBAs, wiring harness, interfaces, enclosures) and to develop new data acquisition systems
Support procurement and calibration of test equipment as necessary
Maintains, repairs, install and troubleshoot Electrical equipment
Fabricate and Assemble test fixtures and wiring harness as necessary supporting the cross-functional teams
Maintain workshop space to a high professional level in terms of safety, efficiency, and cleanliness
Ability to plan and organize work without oversight or direction
Qualifications
Bachelors or technical degree
4-6 years of lab experience
Mechanical fabrication experience (wiring harness and test fixtures)
Soldering Skills (i.e. Thermocouples or Electronic components on PCBA)
Hands-on experience with electronic products rework
Experience working with automotive development environments
Experience working with test equipment (Signal Generator, Voltage Supplies, AC Amplifiers)
Familiarity with python script
Knowledge of MS Office
Bonus Qualifications
Experienced Python user
Knowledge of PEAK Explorer, Vector CANalyzer, or other programming languages & Tools
Experience with HV components testing
