How a Senior Principal Systems Engineer Will Make an Impact:

1. Manage and monitor all infrastructure and systems installations, including configuration, testing, and maintenance
2. Implement and maintain strategies for backup, security, and redundancy
3. Identify potential issues and implement solutions proactively
4. Craft custom scripts that reduce the need for human interaction
5. Enable faster and smarter business processes and develop meaningful analytics
6. Engage regularly with upper management, providing reports on project status, activities, and achievements
7. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
8. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
9. Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
10. Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
11. Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
12. Gather high level requirements and translate them into consumable tasks for System Engineers
13. Ensure mission critical applications are highly available under adverse conditions
14. Promote modern methodologies to increase efficiency and consistency
15. Contribute and be an advocate for long-term technical vision
16. Apply awareness of existing tools and capabilities during the evaluation of new tools

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Education: BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technology field. Experience may be substituted for education.

• Required Experience: Minimum of 17 years' related technical experience to include the following:

  • Developing methods for deploying development environments that mirror production environments for risk mitigation in test and evaluation of software and hardware solutions.
  • Troubleshooting complex system hardware and software issues
  • Practical use of DevOps and/or DevSecOps, and/or GitOps methodologies
  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, ICMP, SSH and SNMP
  • Solid knowledge of Networking, VLANs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and addressing schemes
  • Skilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of repository management practices, patch administration, and vulnerability remediation
  • Thorough technical documentation including diagrams
  • Successful implementation of new technology in complex environments
  • Utilization of centralized log management and analysis tools
  • Building systems within air-gapped environments without impeding automation
  • Implementation of zero-trust practices across the whole stack

The likely salary range for this position is $157,250 - $212,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
