Position Summary: The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fleet maintenance shop, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable maintenance and repair of equipment. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, operational background, and the ability to keep teams focused in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to balance supervising mechanics with performing technical work when needed to ensure equipment is ready for the next day's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, assign, and schedule repair work while monitoring performance and providing feedback to ensure timely and efficient completion.
• Prepare daily shift handoff reports to communicate equipment status, ongoing tasks, and key updates.
• Support and oversee evening shift operations to maximize repair windows and minimize downtime during daily operations.
• Partner with Fleet Maintenance Manager to ensure equipment is operational and ready to meet route and operational requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to fleet mechanics to strengthen skills in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
• Review repair orders, verify accuracy of work performed, and track labor and parts usage.
• Oversee data entry and reporting in fleet maintenance software; analyze performance and recommend process improvements.
• Travel to satellite shops and field locations as needed for diagnosis and repairs.
• Ensure accurate documentation of delays, safety issues, and repair status at the end of each shift.
• Promote and enforce safety policies, identifying and correcting potential hazards proactively.
• Inspect work performed by employees and contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain shop security and verify that all equipment is safely secured at end of shift.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and team development.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience managing 100+ trucks.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or shop environment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Understanding of applicable safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
• Ability to train and mentor team members while leading by example.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commercial driving experience and/or CDL preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanics preferred.
