Senior Principal UX Designer, Platform

As a Senior Principal UX Designer in the Platform team at Capital One Software, you will play a key role in shaping the user experience of our innovative B2B software solutions. Since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has always prioritized technology and data to enable personalization and innovation at scale. You will join a talented team of product, tech, and design professionals dedicated to challenging the status quo. Your work will focus on designing foundational technologies for a range of impactful areas, including onboarding, user management, data visualization, and much more. Your Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with technology, product, and business teams to identify customer and business needs, translating them into user-friendly design solutions.
• Advocate for customers using human-centered design methods including research, ideation, and user testing.
• Facilitate design-led workshops to foster alignment across diverse teams.
• Recommend and champion design-centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis.
• Engage with design community peers for learning and knowledge sharing.
• Embrace an experience mindset, prioritizing user journey as a vital component of your work.
• Participate in hiring processes to help shape our team.

Discovery & Delivery:

• Engage in early product definition by working with partners to uncover customer pain points and opportunities.
• Utilize design tools to deliver concepts and collaborate successfully with teams.
• Participate in the entire product design life cycle, from research to high fidelity prototypes.
• Create process flows, wireframes, journey maps, and interaction models that represent the customer needs.
• Contribute to our internal design system by adhering to and creating new standards and best practices.
• Communicate ideas effectively and present designs to stakeholders.
• Produce high-fidelity design assets for development and market launch in collaboration with technology partners.

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of experience in UX and UI design.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong visual and interaction design skills.
• Experience in B2B environments or with complex workflows and products.
• Familiarity with working alongside Product and Tech teams.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe products.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations:

• Plano, TX: $115,900 - $132,200
• McLean, VA: $127,500 - $145,500
• Richmond, VA: $115,900 - $132,200
• New York, NY: $139,100 - $158,700
• San Francisco, CA: $139,100 - $158,700
