As a Per Diem Surgical Technician, you will participate in OB procedures and assist in patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Below are key responsibilities associated with this role:

• Scrubbing and Technical Proficiency:
• Perform the duties of a scrub person during surgical procedures while consistently demonstrating knowledge of sterile techniques and maintaining aseptic conditions.
• Patient Care Assistance:
• Engage in selected patient care activities in Labor & Delivery, reporting significant observations to the Registered Nurse promptly and accurately.
• Accountability:
• Demonstrate responsibility for assigned tasks and uphold a high standard of performance in your daily role.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Must be a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program or equivalent training as outlined by the LCCST or NCAA, or completion of structured on-the-job training at Bridgeport Hospital.

EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a surgical technology role is preferred.

LICENSURE: Completion of a Certified Surgical Technology Program is required. Newly hired Surgical Technologists as of January 1, 2012, must be certified or obtain certification within one year of employment; those hired before this date are grandfathered in.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with successful completion of MCH/OR training program (score of 85% or better on exam).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires regular standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally is necessary. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color perception, and depth adjustment. The work environment may expose you to fumes or airborne particles, with moderate noise levels.
