A well-established and growing construction services firm based in Sterling, MA is seeking a highly capable Office Manager / Controller to lead its accounting and administrative operations. This is a key leadership role that blends hands-on financial management with operational oversight, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will bring direct experience with Foundation Software , a deep understanding of construction accounting, and a proactive approach to streamlining processes and improving financial accuracy. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and is ready to take ownership of both the financial and administrative functions of a busy contracting office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Oversee and optimize workflows within Foundation Software to support multiple trades and project types.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate job costing, budget tracking, and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for leadership.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts, contributing to strategic financial planning and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial consultants.
  • Provide leadership and support to office staff, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
  • Foundation Software experience is required ; familiarity with other platforms such as Viewpoint or Bid2Win is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry accounting practices and job costing.
  • Proven ability to manage financial operations independently and efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
