We are seeking motivated, client-focused Junior Tax Planners with strong interpersonal and consultative skills to join our growing Tax Services team. These roles are ideal for early-career professionals who bring both a technical tax foundation and a natural sales/relationship-building drive. Junior Tax Planners will support senior staff in managing client relationships, handling tax preparation, and delivering planning solutions. Over time, you will take ownership of client relationships, participate in sales conversations, and help close new business by demonstrating the value of integrated tax and wealth strategies. This role offers a clear growth path for candidates who are energized by both tax planning and building long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Participate in client tax planning meetings, focusing on existing client maintenance and follow-up.
• Support planners in transitioning client relationships while building trust and rapport with clients.
• Assist with tax planning strategies that align with broader wealth management objectives.
• Prepare and review client tax returns and filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Conduct research on tax strategies, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with advisors and tax leadership to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Engage in business development activitiesnurture leads, contribute to closing conversations, and help grow the firm's client base.
• Proactively identify opportunities to add value to client relationships and upsell additional planning services.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of professional tax experience, preferably at a CPA Firm or financial services company.
• Knowledge of tax return preparation, income tax, and tax accounting.
• Understanding of tax planning and financial services.
• Eligibility for Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred.
• Natural sales aptitude.
• Consistent employment history with 2+ years at one firm.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.

Work Environment

The position is predominantly in-office with hybrid options available. The tax team consists of over 15 professionals across two locations. The office will be relocating from Lenexa to the Crossroads in November/December. Two weeks off is offered after tax season is complete, and there are opportunities for growth across multiple departments beyond the tax team.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lenexa, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
