Internal Medicine Senior Veterinary Assistant

As a Senior Veterinary Assistant in the Internal Medicine department, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing compassionate care and close monitoring of animals admitted to the internal medicine department.
• Assisting with diagnostic procedures such as blood collection, imaging preparation, and patient restraint for advanced diagnostics like endoscopy.
• Administering medications, oral treatments, and fluid therapy as directed by a veterinarian or technician.
• Communicating with pet owners in a professional and empathetic manner, helping them understand their pet’s condition and treatment plans.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring that all equipment and treatment areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
• Supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians during procedures such as sample collection and imaging setup.
• Participating in continuing education and training opportunities to stay informed about developments in internal medicine and patient care.
• Collaborating with veterinary technicians, veterinarians, and other team members to provide high-quality, comprehensive patient care.
• Advocating for patient comfort and well-being at all times.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

• Up to $40/hr for licensed Technicians
• Sign-On Bonus up to $8,000
• $5.50/hr paid differential for any hours worked between 6pm-6am

• High school diploma
• Calm, professional demeanor.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
• Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
• Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
• Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
• High level of venipuncture skills, math calculations, and patient handling

• Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine.
• Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician license in the state of California ir preferred
