Equipment Operators

We are currently seeking experienced safety-conscious Equipment Operators to join the team at Heart of Florida Landfill in Lake Panasoffkee, FL. Previous landfill or waste experience would be a huge plus.

The position is a Day Shift working Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays working 45-55 hours a week. Pay Range for this position depends on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance around the site and facilities as needed.
• Spreading and compacting trash using a compactor.
• Spreading daily cover using a dozer.
• Excavating soil using an excavator.
• Hauling soil.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• The work environment is an outdoor landfill setting. The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Areas are clean, ventilated, and well lit.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Experience driving forklift, dozer, or articulated dump truck required.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment used at facility.
• Must become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. repeatedly.
