As a Community Initiatives Coordinator, you'll lead collaborative, community-based efforts to improve public health outcomes across Jackson County. You'll work with local organizations, partners, and residents to identify health priorities, support collective impact initiatives, and promote systems-level solutions. Your work will help shape healthier communities through strategy, facilitation, and evidence-based action.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
- Facilitate collaborative processes to address complex public health challenges
- Support the development and evaluation of community improvement plans
- Provide technical assistance and guidance on systems thinking and collective impact frameworks
- Align initiatives with department goals and community health data
- Contribute to grant writing, reporting, and resource development
- Coordinate and track progress toward initiative milestones, timelines, and outcomes
- Ensure cultural relevance in outreach, messaging, and community engagement
- Support communication efforts and contribute to public-facing reports and materials
- Collaborate across divisions and support strategic planning and accreditation efforts
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion/education, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience leading or facilitating community collaborations
- Strong understanding of public health theory, community mobilization, and health equity
- Skilled in group facilitation, systems thinking, and collaborative planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities
- Must meet fleet safety requirements if driving is part of job duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in public health or related field
- 3-4 years of experience in public health community collaboration
- Experience with adaptive facilitation or human-centered design
