CNC Operator/Programmer III

Overview

PDI Ground Support Systems is looking for a CNC Operator/Programmer III. PDI is a defense contractor that supports 50 different Air Forces around the world and the United States Department of Defense. PDI is a union shop that has a full array of manufacturing operations consisting of (sawing, manual machining, metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, assembly, wet painting and powder coat painting). This position reports to the CNC Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Follow companys health and safety policies.
• Wear required safety equipment that complies with tasks being performed.
• Fill out required daily time sheets and work orders.
• The goal is to maintain daily work order labor efficiency of 85%.
• Use hand tools and manual machines as needed.
• Write programs for new and existing parts.
• Perform machine set-ups as required.
• Download and upload programs into CNC machines, and make minor programming adjustments as needed.
• Make adjustments to offset coordinates to compensate for materials, tooling or machine center.
• Operate many different types of CNC machines to manufacture a finished machined product by performing a wide range of machining operations within tight tolerances.
• Work with supervisor, programmer and support staff to resolve machining issues as required.
• May be required to operate 2 to 3 machines depending on product mix.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Technical Trade School, or GED required.
• 7 to 10 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing machining environment.
• 7 to 10 years minimum experience programming, setting up and operating HAAS CNC milling and CNC lathe equipment. Knowledge of Bobcat software or equivalent would be helpful.
• 7+ years experience programming at the machine controls using G code.
• 7+ years experience in a close tolerance manufacturing environment working with different metals, aluminum, and castings.
