CNC Machinist

This position is for a CNC Machinist in a dynamic job shop environment. The role involves setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This includes the fabrication, modification, or repair of mechanical instruments, and the maintenance of industrial machines by applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, particularly Haas and Mazak models.
• Produce precision parts primarily from 3/16" stainless steel, and occasionally from carbon.
• Operate basic equipment and machines, carrying out routine tasks efficiently.
• Conduct operational tasks by following established processes and maintaining quality standards.
• Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment by preparing and providing necessary support.
• Follow mandatory work instructions to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
• Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances accurately.
• Exchange information courteously and effectively with team members and other stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in operating CNC machines, including mills and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
• At least 2 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills.
• Capability to follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or completion of a trade school program preferred.
• Experience with CNC setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with G code, Mastercam, and tooling processes.
• Experience with Fanuc and Okuma systems is advantageous.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodridge, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
