POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our team as a Class A CDL Truck Driver! In this role, you will be essential in delivering products from our warehouse to customers efficiently and safely. You’ll ensure timely deliveries while unloading products in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely transport products from the warehouse to customer locations, ensuring timely deliveries on assigned routes.
- Unload products by hand or using a hand cart, navigating ramps, stairs, or docks, in various weather conditions, and place them in specified storage areas.
- Manage returns and damaged goods, transporting these back to the SYGMA warehouse.
- Complete all necessary paperwork following company and government guidelines accurately and on time.
- Adhere to food safety protocols, maintaining proper handling and sanitary conditions while ensuring quality during transit.
- Maintain and safely operate assigned equipment, including hand carts, pallets, and personal protective equipment.
- Build strong relationships with customers through excellent service and clear communication.
- Collaborate with management regarding any changes in routes, trailer issues, or customer concerns.
- Work outside of usual schedules to meet customer needs with regular and dependable attendance.
- Read and speak English sufficiently for effective communication with the public and to comply with safety regulations.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma/GED or completion of a tractor trailer driving school, plus a preferred 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License, with insurability to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hazmat guidelines, and safe lifting practices. Skills in driving over various terrains and weather conditions, problem-solving, and customer communication are important in this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The tasks involve sitting, hearing, and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as pushing or pulling up to 350 pounds using equipment. This position requires ability to climb, bend, and twist while managing various tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Expect to occasionally work in varying temperatures and conditions, including some exposure to mechanical parts. This role may require working overnight hours, on weekends, and sometimes on holidays to cater to customer needs.
