Overview
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER - PDI (MEDICAL GROUP RCM) role at LifeBridge Health. As a member of the executive team, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) directs the operations of Practice Dynamics Inc. in accordance with the mission and strategic objectives of LifeBridge Health.
Responsibilities
- Inform hospital Presidents, VPs, Directors and Department Chairs about operational, legislative and regulatory issues and trends affecting health system financial performance and physician net income.
- Actively participate in hospital Executive Team meetings. Model customer service and take initiative to exceed expectations where possible.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, visitors and employees; regularly round facilities and departments to solicit feedback on performance, needs and employee satisfaction.
- Proactively build and maintain effective employee relations; mentor leaders to achieve high retention and align with health system philosophy and culture.
- Recruit subordinates whose management style aligns with the organization’s culture.
- Address employee issues promptly in compliance with institutional policies.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate fiscal aspects of the institution; develop annual operating and capital budgets for PDI; interpret operating results and implement cost-reduction or profitability strategies within budget.
- Manage contracts for physician billing services and monitor financial outcomes to ensure budget adherence.
- Lead the PDI team and collaborate with hospital executive staff to develop and execute revenue cycle programs and services.
- Direct staff to develop short- and long-term objectives for professional billing resources in line with LifeBridge’s mission and strategic plan.
- Develop policies and procedures compliant with state, federal and local payor regulations to promote effective professional billing operations.
- Ensure effective professional billing operations and processes; select, develop, evaluate and lead a team of PDI professionals.
- Advise faculty practice management on revenue cycle programs and metrics goals; help establish objectives to achieve performance targets.
- Maintain operational and financial standards including profitability, accounts receivable and payable; ensure safe and efficient facilities and equipment; manage human resources and vendor contracts.
- Participate in strategic planning and provide leadership for revenue cycle resources; forecast billing trends and identify opportunities for growth of PDI programs and services.
- Collaborate with staff and physicians to identify and provide for practice management and billing needs of hospitals and practices.
- Stay current with industry trends and participate in professional organizations (e.g., Medical Group Management Association).
- Seek feedback on performance via surveys and continuously improve services.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience in strategic leadership for medical billing operations / professional billing services
