Boiler Operator
Responsible for the uninterrupted, efficient, and safe operation of high pressure steam boilers insuring a continuous supply of steam for heating building, providing hot water, sterilizing equipment, and auxiliary equipment. Monitors and reports malfunctions in the electrical, air-conditioning, domestic water, and plumbing systems. Test runs emergency generator systems and maintains a safe and efficient operation of appropriate boiler plant and its related equipment. Responsible for machine room readings and emergency maintenance response on 2nd and 3rd shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Driver's License
Experience:
- Two (2) years' experience in boiler operations.
- 1D-Water Operators License
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
- Licensure and/or Certification related to boiler operations
- HVAC Certification
- West Virginia Electrician or Plumber License
Core Duties and Responsibilities

- Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing, boiler, air handling systems.
- Operates & maintains boilers insuring a continuous supply of steam for heating building, providing hot water, sterilizing equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities.
- Repairs plumbing systems and equipment.
- Repairs air handling systems and equipment.
- Performs monitoring and measurement of water treatment systems.
- Repairs structural elements.
- Repairs steam handling equipment.
- Performs water testing, maintains chemical levels, and documents results as assigned.
- Operates water softener system as assigned.
- Verifies chemical inventories and reports reorder requirements.
- Verifies oxygen levels and documents results.
- Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles boilers for annual inspection as assigned.
- Monitors and maintains cooling system as assigned.
- Installs new or replacement equipment.
- Performs routine inspection of facility for safety and disrepair.
- Performs and documents weekly and monthly generator testing.

- Motor coordination and finger dexterity, good physical condition, and ability to lift/carry minimum of 80 pounds
- May work with sharp instruments.
- May work on or with moving machinery.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment.

Skills and Abilities
Must have thorough knowledge of maintenance for equipment and repairs. Sufficient time will be allowed to become familiar with hospital equipment and facilities. Verbal & technical ability to read and understand manuals pertaining to the operation and maintenance of equipment.
