Working with an experienced Portfolio Manager with a strong track record that is launching a book at a blue-chip hedge fund. The Portfolio Manager is seeking a talented GenAI Engineer to build out greenfield GenAI-native research infrastructure that drives real-time investment decisions. This will be a founding member on the portfolio management team where the right candidate will get to design and build from scratch with zero legacy code.
You will collaborate directly with the Portfolio Manager and work daily in the LLM space-taking ideas from research papers to prototype to production within the cloud (AWS). This position is seated directly within the trading team; allowing the candidate to build solutions that directly influence the portfolio's positions.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize LLM's to ingest unstructured text and audio, design chunking and embedding strategies, and serve results through RAG/hybrid-search microservices.
- Build regression tests and A/B frameworks
- Track drift, latency, and analyst-acceptance metrics.
- Ship, log, and refine based on tight front-office feedback loops.
- Test SOTA papers, run ablations, and containerize via Docker on AWS GPU infrastructure (EKS/Batch).
Qualifications:
- 0-5+ years of industry experience or Postgrad / PhD research background.
- Experience building and shipping working code (not just decks or papers).
- Proficiency with Python (asyncio, typing, PyTest)
- Familiarity with LangChain/LlamaIndex or similar tools (i.e. OpenAI API).
- Experience with vector DBs (Weaviate, Qdrant, PGVector) and multimodal APIs.
- Metrics-driven experimental mindset and a strong communicator that is comfortable working directly with investment pros.
- Plus to have / not required:
- OSS or publication record in NLP, speech diarization, or information retrieval.
- Experience with AWS DevOps (Helm, EKS/Fargate, CDK/Terraform, Batch).
- Interest in equities or macro (finance knowledge not required).
