Veterinary Oncology Assistant

Welcome to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 Emergency Care Veterinary Hospital with 7 different Specialties. The AESC Team is growing, and we are seeking motivated, positive and compassionate individuals to join our team. About the Role:

The Oncology Assistant supports the Oncologist and Technicians to provide safe and efficient treatments for animals receiving care. They help facilitate the treatment of animals in Oncology by assisting in procedures, chemotherapy, and consultations.

Compensation:

$18 - $22 depending on experience

Anticipated Schedule:

Essential Job Functions:

n
Performs animal restraint
n
n
Help admit chemotherapy patients
n
n
Perform TPR accurately
n
n
Assist the Technician in chemotherapy drug administration
n
n
Perform blood work (procyte, chemistry, sedivue, lacuna, assist with send out)
n
n
Stocking
n
n
Cleaning/disinfecting after chemotherapy administration
n
n
Cleaning exam rooms after exams
n
n
Prepares for procedures and anticipates the needs of the department
n
n
Assist Technicians in CT's, radiographs, and a variety of other procedures
n
n
Administration of oral, IM, SQ medications and SQ fluids under the supervision of a Technician
n
n
Filling of prescriptions
n
n
Other duties as directed
n
n
Supports other areas and departments as needed.
n

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

n
At least 1 year of experience working with animals
n
n
High school diploma or equivalent.
n

Preferred Qualifications:

n
Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and radiographs
n
n
Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
n
