Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Imaging Sonographer with strong vascular and OBGYN skills for a variable day and evening shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting on the ultrasound unit
• Care for both adult and pediatric patients in inpatient, outpatient, ED, OB, and vascular areas
• Average caseload of 8-12 scans per day
• Variable day and evening shifts until midnight, including rotating call requirements
• Specific shift times include 06:00-16:30, 07:00-17:30, 08:00-16:30, 11:00-23:00, and 16:30-00:00
• Weekend rotation includes one 24-hour weekend call shift per month, with additional weekends available
• Weekday call is from 00:00 to 06:00, typically 3-4 times per month
• Schedule may include holiday coverage as needed in rotation
• Floating between multiple care areas as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system and Samsung RS85 Prestige equipment
• Free parking available
• Responsibilities include performing diagnostic, vascular, OBGYN, and general ultrasound scans in various settings
• Support is provided by lead technologists and physicians on unit
• Approximately two weeks of orientation provided, with 4-5 shifts per week
• Must be willing to float and adapt to multiple care areas as required
• Scrubs may be any professional color
• Must be willing to participate in a rotating call and holiday schedule
• Flu vaccination is required for assignments starting 9/30/2024 or later, with medical exemptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this assignment

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years experience as a sonographer, with vascular, OBGYN, and ABD expertise
• BLS certification required
• ARDMS certifications in ABD and OB/GYN required
• Vascular certification preferred
• Prior pediatric experience required
• Experience in critical care settings preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience in the specialty required
• Compact or Maine state sonography license required if applicable
• Must not have worked previously in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health Hospital
• Eligibility restricted to candidates whose permanent address is 100+ miles South/Southwest of EMMC Bangor, Maine
