Overview:
Requires a solid understanding of surgical processes with competency in a wide range of surgical specialties, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, general surgery, robotics, gynecology, and urology.

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for assisting with surgical procedures in the Operating Room within the scope of practice allowed by law. The role functions as an integral part of the nursing team, working alongside RNs to care for patients, and involves self-directed provision of sub-acute care or performance of routine activities.

Experience Requirements:

• Experience with a high volume of total joint procedures and minimally invasive spine surgeries (e.g., ACDF, posterior lumbar).
• Ability to scrub multiple service lines, with orthopedics and neurosurgery as primary focus.
• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required.

Contract Details:

• Scrub Requirement: Hospital provides scrubs.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Requested Time Off (RTO): No more than 3 days.
• On-Call Requirement: 24-hour call shifts required (e.g., Friday PM 8p-7a, Sunday 7a-7p, or one Saturday 7a-7a).

Education & Certification:

• AHA BLS certification.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) verification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

First Day Instructions / Orientation:
Failure to complete the full orientation will result in immediate termination—once scheduled, candidates do not have the option to reschedule any classes.

Candidates will receive an email directly from Inspira the Friday before the Monday start date. The email will contain the following information:

• Instructions for signing on to the Virtual Welcome meeting and completing the online HealthStream Module from Human Resources, prior to 8:30 AM on Monday. Monday's General Employee Orientation (GEO) will be virtual from the candidate's own computer. All assigned modules must be completed by Monday, or the candidate will be removed from the orientation list.
• In-person class schedule (typically Tuesday–Thursday), held in multiple locations. The location may not be listed in the original email; candidates must use HealthStream to confirm the class location on the day of. Note: The POCT (Point-of-Care Testing) class is required but not held during orientation week.
• Unit-based orientation schedule from the manager.
• Badge ID link with instructions on how to make an in-person appointment to receive the ID badge. Photo submissions are not permitted. This must be completed during orientation, as the badge is required for clock-ins.
