Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist with an active AZ or compact license, ASHA CCC-SLP, and at least 2 years' experience to provide inpatient and outpatient care to a predominantly Native American population.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting serving a rural, predominantly Native American community
• Care for patients across the lifespan from birth through geriatric
• Provide both inpatient and outpatient speech-language therapy services
• Specialty procedures include swallowing evaluations, Videofluoroscopy (VFSS/MBS), and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
• Participate in specialty clinics such as Geriatric and Assistive Technology/adaptive equipment evaluation clinics
• Utilize an electronic health record for documentation
• Monday through Friday schedule, 8am to 5pm
• Responsible for comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and progress evaluation for patients with developmental, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities
• Duties include educating patients, families, and staff in therapy procedures and home programs
• Collaborate closely with physicians, rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary health teams
• Assist with ongoing quality improvement, risk management, and safety for the speech therapy service
• Participate in training and in-services for students and staff
• Orientation offered every two weeks
• COVID and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted after submission of a declination form
• Housing is available but not guaranteed; applicants must submit a housing application two weeks prior to start
• The facility is in a very rural area

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program
• Active, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license in Arizona or any US state (license required if applicable)
• Current ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• At least 2 years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
• Must meet credentialing requirements for medical staff privileges
• Completion of fingerprinting prior to start
