Unit Name/Type of unit: Med Surg- ICU float
Selling points for the unit: We have a small very friendly country hospital. The community is lower in income and is usually very thankful of the help they receive here. Teamwork on nights is fantastic. Scott is a small hospital and is typically close knit, welcoming and very friendly.
# beds/procedures: 12 with includes 3 monitored beds for higher acuity (TCU/ICU)
We currently do not keep vents at this facility, if we have to intubate a patient, we hold them long enough to get them transferred.
Patient population: we are a critical access hospital, so we have a high turnover with patients. Many may be admitted for PNA or a UTI and placed on OBS. We have a swing bed program in the same unit for short term rehab patients. Typically, an example of these are patients that are trying to get stronger after having Covid or a few days of physical therapy after a MI
