ER RN Job Details

• Location: Pikeville, KY 41501 (Eastern Kentucky healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – Emergency Room
• Start Date: November 17, 2025
• End Date: February 14, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (8-hour night shifts, 48 hours/week)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kentucky or compact state)
• Associate’s degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent emergency room (ER) nursing experience required; 5 years preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience in emergency department settings required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, EKG

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients of all ages in both emergent and non-emergent situations
• Deliver airway and pain management, cardiac and invasive monitoring, and IV drips/titration
• Assist with specialized emergency procedures (temporary pacemakers, cardioversion, defibrillation, chest tubes, wound repair)
• Respond to Code Blue situations and operate specialized emergency care equipment
• Administer medications, perform ECG analysis, and provide discharge education to patients
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure patient confidentiality
• Supervise and delegate tasks to other healthcare staff and clinical support personnel
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and serve as a preceptor for new ER nurses
• Ensure proper functioning of emergency room equipment and maintain adequate supplies
• Follow infection control, safety, and personnel policies in compliance with healthcare standards
