Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a CT RN license and ACLS, BLS, and TNCC certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a short-term acute care hospital
• Level I Trauma Center with a high-acuity patient population
• Patient nurse ratio is approximately 1:6 on both days and nights
• Night shift position with a 3x12 hour schedule (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend is required
• Travelers may float within scope as needed
• Assigned to one campus but may occasionally rotate to other campuses
• Epic is used for charting
• Travelers do not cover trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• RTO up to 7 days is auto-approved; longer requests require facility approval
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Pre-employment online modules must be completed before start
• Participation in emergency or natural disaster response may be required
• Scrubs or dress code requirements are not specified
• Parking is available at a cost of $125 per month

Requirements

• Active CT RN license or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
• At least 1.5 years of recent ED experience in a large hospital or Level I Trauma Center (2 years preferred)
• Trauma center experience required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine required with exemptions only for medical or religious reasons
• Must not reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Must not have prior disciplinary actions on RN license
• Returning employees must have a break of at least 2 years before being eligible as a traveler
• One professional reference required
