Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of two years’ experience and advanced L&D certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting in the Labor & Delivery unit
• Unit features 10 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, and 17 postpartum beds
• Patient population includes mothers at 20 weeks gestation and above, with high-risk deliveries such as hypertension, diabetes, advanced maternal age, preterm labor, no prenatal care, substance abuse, and twin deliveries
• NICU is level 2; level 3 babies are transferred out
• Expected to circulate for C-sections
• Standard patient ratio is 1:2
• Utilizes Fetal Link fetal monitoring system and Cerner Power Chart EMR
• 12-hour night shifts with shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am
• Work every other weekend as part of the schedule
• No floating or on-call requirements
• Unit supported by on-site OB and anesthesia 24/7, OB techs per shift, respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage 24/7
• Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts
• Responsibilities include care of high-risk OB patients and assisting with deliveries and C-sections
• Travelers are required to work one major and one minor holiday during the contract
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Initial orientation includes floor-specific training for 1-2 shifts
• Work environment is culturally diverse with a high Spanish-speaking population
• Must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) at the time of application; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years’ recent experience in Labor & Delivery required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
• Experience circulating in C-section deliveries required
• Prior travel experience preferred, but not required
• Must be able to provide a copy of driver’s license at time of consideration
• Professional references required: One supervisor reference from within the last 12 months, and an additional peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
