Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN with Labor and Delivery experience for a night shift assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and AHA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the OB Postpartum unit of a hospital
• Specializes in Labor and Delivery and postpartum patient care
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, three days per week
• EPIC EMR is utilized for documentation
• Floating may be required to any affiliated location within 60 miles or within designated float zones and may include assignments outside original job duties
• Assess and respond to patient needs, implementing care plans and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
• Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection
• Provide education to patients and families according to assessed needs
• Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive, relationship-based care
• Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel as appropriate and according to policy
• Expected to participate in quality improvement activities and unit meetings
• Precept or mentor new staff and nursing students as needed
• Flu vaccination required for assignments during flu season; only medical exemptions with physician support may be considered
• Scrub attire/dress code to be confirmed with unit
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active RN license for Colorado or any compact state is required
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or AWHONN certification required
• One year of labor and delivery experience is preferred
• All certifications must be current and issued by the AHA
• Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
• Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
