Job Title: Echocardiographic Technician 

Job Specific Information: Pediatric experience preferred.
Shift Time: Variable
Hours: start times could range from 7, 730 or 8am - variable
Shift length: 8 hours - 36hr guarantee  
Weekend rotation: Every 4th or 5th weekend
On Call: Yes
Required certifications: Certified / Credentialed Echo program (RDCS or RCS) 
Scrub Color: Burgundy

Job Description:  

Job Summary: Performs a variety of cardiac testing including, stress, transesophageal, transthoracic, dobutamine stress echocardiograms and others as indicated (ICE, 3D, strain, specialty and fetal echocardiograms); calculates acquired data and prepares study for medical staff interpretation. 

Education:  Associate's Degree – from an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent 

Experience:   

• skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through schooling training and experience related to echo including in two-dimensional, doppler, color doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echo and understanding of complex congenital heart disease and surgical repairs.
• 3 years of relevant experience - in two-dimensional, doppler, color doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echos and understanding of complex congenital heart disease and surgical repairs.

Essential Functions: Reviews patient chart and selects most appropriate procedural methodology. • Performs ultrasound tests appropriate for patient specific morphology and pathology. Performs calculations per protocol, uses critical thinking skills to assess validity of calculations. • Documents exam performance in electronic medical record, on hospital financial system. • Attends departmental staff, educational, and informational meetings. Participates as required in various workgroups, quality assurance (QA) meetings, and team building sessions. • Informs patients, significant others and members of the health care team about procedures, equipment being utilized and other related activities as appropriate. • Calculates acquired data, prepares materials for medical staff interpretation. • Actively demonstrates ongoing continuous education efforts in field of Cardiac Sonography and demonstrates professional commitment by membership in local and national Sonography Society.
