Test Engineer

Validation Engineer

This position involves supporting the testing and validation of embedded, electromechanical products throughout their development lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate closely with project teams to verify product performance, conduct environmental and functional tests, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Build, assemble, and test PCBs and products under development or in production.
• Conduct electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests including type testing and design change evaluations.
• Document findings using formal reports, logs, and visual data.
• Coordinate external testing and supplier evaluations for quality and safety.
• Design and maintain small-scale test equipment and ensure lab safety standards.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with flow measurement testing (water or gas), including lab-based setup, chamber, pressure, and humidity testing with a strong focus on safety.
• Proficiency in test plan development, issue diagnosis, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in testing electromechanical or embedded software products, ideally within an R&D environment.
• Familiarity with reliability techniques like HALT/HASS, DFMEA, and system-level testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in gas meter testing is a plus.

Work Environment:

The candidate will need to be onsite daily. The first few months will require travel to the Europe site to learn the gas metrology business. The work environment is dynamic, focusing on expanding product lines in a global leader of smart metering and energy management solutions.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/yr. Benefits will be provided.

Workplace Type:

This is a fully onsite position in Lafayette, IN.
