Tax Manager

Our client has an opening for a Tax Manager at their Denver office. Working with Partners and Managers to lead, mentor and coach team members in various areas of tax compliance and across consulting engagements in an effort to help clients minimize tax liabilities. They are responsible for management of engagements and client communications while promoting a collaborative environment to bring value to clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Exhibits a high level understanding of technical requirements, procedures and principles.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of specialized industry and/or regulatory requirements.
3. Helps to manage and monitor preparation and review of complex S Corporation, C Corporation, partnership, multistate and individual tax returns, including projections and estimate calculations.
4. Reviews and advises on technical research memorandum.
5. Researches and reviews work papers for various book to tax differences.
6. Ability to apply relevant tax law to particular clients and circumstances.
7. Identifies area of specialization and is continuously refining skills, knowledge and expertise.
8. Collaborates with others to provide quality service to clients.
9. Engages in professional and efficient communication with clients.
10. Leads client meetings.
11. Promotes additional services to client when appropriate.
12. Develops intimate knowledge of clients and their business activities.
13. Communicates with the IRS and other state authorities in a professional manner when applicable.
14. Effectively delegates responsibility providing proper instructions, monitoring and coaching.
15. Conducts training for associates.
16. Manages projects by scheduling associates, tracking completion and managing the budget.
17. Maintains open communication with team regarding the progress of completion on projects.
18. Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities, both as an attendee and as a facilitator.
19. Manages all aspects of billing, including client inquiries.
20. Develops appropriate fee quotes for new tax engagements.
21. Networks to promote business and bring in new clients.

Qualifications:

1. Accounting undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred.
2. CPA required.
3. 5+ years of tax experience is required.
4. Advanced knowledge of Federal and income tax laws and principles of individual and business taxation is required.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
7. Strong project management and delegation skills.
