INTERNSHIP PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

• A 6-week paid internship experience

• Full-time commitment of 40 hours per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology Program

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• One (1) year of patient care and/or operating room experience in a certified hospital is preferred

• Basic computer proficiency

• Understanding of aseptic techniques is essential

PROGRAM LOCATIONS:

• Rochester General Hospital

• Unity Hospital

• Newark Wayne Community Hospital

• Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic

• United Memorial Medical Center

INTERNSHIP DATES:

6-week program starting on June 16th

SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week for the duration of the internship

ATTRIBUTES:

• Basic computer skills

• Understanding of aseptic techniques

• Outstanding customer service and communication skills are highly valued

• Enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program is required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interns will gain rotation experience and learn the following:

• Anesthesia practices

• Surgical Case Preparation

• Sterile Techniques

• Surgical Scrubbing and the proper Donning & Doffing of Sterile Attire

• Identification and handling of Surgical Instruments

• Understanding Sterilization methods

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly. Regular walking, standing, or squatting is required.
