Surgery - General Physician Assistant

We're seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant with experience in general and trauma surgery for a locum tenens role starting July 2025 . Schedule Highlights:

• Start Date: July 2025

• Shifts: 14 per 28-day period

• Shift Length: 24 hours (12 onsite + 12 on-call)

Role Details:

• Duties:

  • First assist in OR (laparoscopic, open, robotic surgery)

  • ED & inpatient consults

  • Endoscopy

  • Trauma call coverage

  • Post-op rounding and clinic follow-ups

• Team:

  • 2 Surgeons + 1 Acute Surgicalist

  • 2 Advanced Practice Providers

• Support: Full ancillary team, EPIC EMR, lab, imaging, and pharmacy

• Patient Census: Avg 160 patients/day

• Teaching: Opportunity to work alongside IM/FM residents from University of Iowa

Requirements:

• Board-Certified PA REQUIRED

• Active Iowa license or Compact License REQUIRED

• Surgical and trauma experience highly preferred

• Must be comfortable working independently with supervision available

Compensation & Benefits:

• Pay Rate: $160/hr + Nightly call
