Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician Assistant

Locums - NP/PA Cardiovascular Surgery - Lexington, Kentucky

Start Date: February 1, 2026Duration: 3-6 months (option to extend)Type: Full-Time Coverage with Call

Position Overview

• Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

  • Night Call: 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM

  • Weekend Call: Required

• Coverage Requirement: Full-time coverage needed; provider must be able to offer at least 1 week of M-F and call coverage per month

• Patient Volume: Morning rounds typically include 5-10 ICU patients with faculty

• Patient Population: Adults

• Setting: Academic/Training environment

• EMR System: Epic

Clinical Expectations

• Provide first-assist support in cardiovascular procedures

• Must be proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting and CABG first-assisting

• Participate in daily ICU rounds with attending faculty

• Assist in surgical procedures and patient management

• Responsible for perioperative care, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op support

Requirements

• Board Certification: NP (must also have RNFA) or PA

• Licensure:

  • Active Kentucky License required for NPs

  • PA may obtain license if not already held

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent experience first-assisting in cardiovascular procedures

• Skills:

  • Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting

  • Proficient in cardiovascular first-assist techniques

  • Epic EMR experience required
