About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our Technology team as a Sr. Technical Project Manager based in Shelton, CT. The Sr. Project Manager leads the delivery of software projects and product features to market, applying both waterfall and agile methodologies. As the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned IT products, this role ensures clarity on functionality, roadmap, and alignment with business priorities. The Sr. Project Manager is accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with IT best practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Software Project Delivery: Direct cross-functional IT teams to deliver software solutions and product features, ensuring scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Portfolio Leads, Scrum Masters, and delivery teams to gather requirements, define technical functionality, and align priorities to the delivery plan.
- Backlog & Release Management: Manage and prioritize product backlogs using IT project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, MS Project) and set expectations for software releases.
- Requirements Engineering: Work with internal and external stakeholdersincluding third-party vendorsto define, document, and validate software requirements and user stories throughout the release lifecycle.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Facilitate operational checkpoints, proactively identify and resolve high-priority risks, and ensure compliance with IT project methodologies and security standards.
- Team Leadership & Guidance: Provide direction and support to IT project teams, ensuring clarity of vision, business context, and readiness to meet sprint and release goals.
- Quality Assurance: Validate requirements and user stories against acceptance criteria, ensuring robust testing and quality standards are met before acceptance.
- ROI & Success Metrics: Ensure IT projects meet business objectives, success parameters, and ROI targets; manage multiple complex projects/products across business units.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- 8 years' experience in software development or IT project management desired.
- 6+ years' experience as a Product Owner, Project Manager, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in IT environments.
- SCRUM Product Owner Certification required, PMI or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency with IT project and portfolio management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, Clarity, Visio).
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, Iterative) and IT delivery models.
- Strong technical background in SDLC, software engineering, and IT infrastructure.
- Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ALM tools.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical and business teams.
- Ability to anticipate risks, devise solutions, and adapt to frequent change in dynamic IT environments.
- In-depth knowledge of IT project management concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
